This place is perfect for a special date night out in Raleigh! The food is extraordinary & we had the BEST service with Roy. My group of friends ate here during our staycation away from the kids and we could not have picked a better spot. Everything that was ordered from drinks all the way to dessert was delicious. We have to come back very soon to try some more menu items! On top of the food just exploding with flavor in every bite, Roy went above and beyond to describe every single item that we ordered in extreme detail! We also loved that while we had an 8:30pm reservation, they are excellent at making sure you are comfortable and not worried about rushing you out of there. If you haven’t been here yet, make the reservation… you won’t regret it!
Excellent all around. My partner and I came here for a lovely dinner a few days before Christmas and we're blown away by the food and service. We don't go to many high end restaurants, but of the few we have been to this definitely sets the bar.
Every course had layers and depth of flavor. They were all a good, shareable size. We shared an appetizer and side dish and each had our own main course. It was more than enough food.
But, trust me, get desert too. The desert is to die for.
The food! The service! The EXPERIENCE! It was truly wonderful. Roy took care of us and made our large group completely comfortable. He was fully knowledgeable in every dish, and wow were they all good. So many layers and flavors in each dish, I was so glad to have a large group so I got to try so many! Perfect place for a date, perfect place to meet friends, dress up, or not.. just a great atmosphere no matter who you are, really. 10/10.
Our first visit here. We had high expectations for the food quality from all the reviews and they hit all the marks! Our server Anna was exceptional! She made us feel so at home was the difference maker between a nice experience to a really special experience. The staff runs like a well oiled machine and the food was delicious with a very interesting international wine list. We had the broiled oysters, sourdough bread (wow!), Brocollini- which has a very nice smoked flavor, pork loin and charred drumfish over mussels, all perfectly cooked.we Sat at the kitchen counter, which was very entertaining. Bravo! We'll be back!
It’s challenging to give a venue 5 stars. A few weeks ago I was sat close to Ashley in a local bar, I wanted to tell her how good our first visit to D and T was but I thought I may bug her . Anyway , my wife and I went last evening for my Birthday celebration . Everything was on point from start to finish. A warm welcome , the best seat at the kitchen bar , a great reception from the server(s).
Cocktails were off menu, traditional, and as requested. Appetizers : pate, shrimp, and oysters were stellar. Bread was great . Mains of pork loin and fennel sausage, Campanelle pasta was extraordinary. We couldn’t finish what we ordered .
An exemplary restaurant that we enjoyed every minute of the experience . The only downside , and it’s a minor one, is I thought that the wine list was a little overpriced, but I could have always not bought some, so my choice .
Won’t be our last visit ..oh, great martinis at reasonable price …I don’t eat bread, but I devoured theirs
Culinary excellence at its finest! The menu showcases a perfect balance of innovation and tradition. The attentive staff ensures a seamless dining experience in a charming setting.
Death & Texas was okay, if you’re in the mood for steak I recommend the NY strip, which is what I got. I also tried the oysters, they weren’t bad, I enjoyed the warm lemon chili on them, which is what makes them unique. The dessert was okay, I thought I was going to get something outstanding just by the other two dishes. It’s contemporary dining, I’d suggest it for dinner dates!
We returned to Death and Taxes last night to celebrate a milestone. We went two years ago and still talk about that meal, so this was a test. Would it live up to our memory? DUDE, IT SO DID. The chicken liver pate appetizer and bread to start were incredible. The steak and pork loin were the stars of the show. We had the apple crostada to finish, and it was an amazing finale. Also amazing service. Love this restaurant. Highly recommend.
